Assistant coach of Iran’s national volleyball team Hossein Ma’adani has died at the age of 43.
Ma’adani, who suffered severe pancreatic failure, passed away at a Tehran hospital on Friday.

He had been hospitalized for bile duct stenosis and could not travel to Florence, Italy, to accompany Iran’s national volleyball team.

He was Iran’s assistant coach under Khulio Velasco and Incumbent Slobodan Kovach, with whom the Iranian team played in the 2013 and 2014 editions of the FIVB World League.

Slobodan Kovac’s team came in fourth in the 2014 FIVB World League – making Iran the most successful Asian nation in the competition.

Ma’adani was also Iran’s head-coach from 2008 to 2010 during which he won the silver medal of the Asian Championship in 2009, before finishing 2nd in the 2010 Asian games.
